The Good the Bad and the Ugly.

matthew'sWORK The title of the my most recent work. I have been collecting Wal-Street Journal hed-cuts for the last eight months or so, and over that time, pasting them to a large 6' x 4' board. There are almost 400 of these on this one board, and now I am starting my next group. I started doing this work as an exercise in discipline. It was helping me to get into my studio on a regular basis. If I didn't really know what I wanted to do there, I atleast knew I could cut and paste these pictures. I actually became more and more interested in the way that these images were coming together. To see so many faces, all drawn in basically the same fashion, meant to be a strong representation of the face of the individual they depict, and no more. Are they art in themselves? Someone drew them, does that make them art? They get put in the paper everyday, does that detract from their artistic nature? I don't know. What I am most interested in is the idea that aside from their names, and the context of those names in "the news", these are just people like you and me, faces like yours and mine, but in the "news" context they become The Good, the Bad, or the Ugly. We'll see what I do in the next eight months.

Good Morning World It's 1:13am

clock Amy's snoring beside me here, and it is definitely one of the cuter things one could possible imagine. Every once in awhile she roles over, says something wonderfully nonsensicle and roles back - its pretty funny. I have been working hard lately to scan a bunch of negatives that have sat patiently waiting for me to do something with them. They are from my trip to Kenya in 1999 with Habitat for Humanity. I hope you like them. Follow this link to the web photo gallery. :::CLICK HERE FOR KENYA PHOTOS::: Hope you likey. Below is an example. Cheers, Matthew Image hosted by Photobucket.com

It's Saturday yall.

Its a beautiful day here in Philadelphia. Image hosted by Photobucket.com We're dorkin' around the house today. Trying to get some household projects done. I built a wooden divider to keep the tools hidden in the baby room/office/tool storage area (can you tell we're poor!). Amy is sewing the fabric to make it all come together. Let us know how your weekend is going. Cheers, Matthew

New Comments!

Hey there yall. Image hosted by Photobucket.com I thought I would let everyone know that there is a new way to let us know what is going on in your lives or let us know what you think about our silly writing and pics: We have added comments to our blog. Comments are normally how most peoople use blogs, but for awhile it didn't seem like something we wanted to do. However, since we are interested in community, this seems like a perfect way to keep people in the loop, but maybe be kept in other's loops. Just below each of our posts you will see the "comments" link. If you click it, you can leave your own comments, or thoughts on that post or anything else. If you have any questions feel free to holla. Peas out, Matthew
